Kicking off Thanksgiving break off right with a visit to The Learning Center for a school-wide feast :-) So excited to see my kids, teachers, and learn some more signs. Then I'm heading home, only to leave again for my uncle's surprise b-day party. I can't wait to see my family and cousins! The rest of the weekend will be catching up on work, starting the grad school process, and seeing some movies. :-) Mum and Elena just got back from Florida for nationals. I still have yet to hear how they did, the team's pretty strong this year :-) Hopefully there will be a good household atmosphere since people have had their space for a bit...we'll see. Ok, gotta get back to packing. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! :-)

Yesterday was an extremely special day! I was at TLC working with my preschoolers and I got a sign name!!! A sign name is an abbreviation of your name that also portrays a characteristic you have. It is given to you by a deaf person. It is symbolizes a recognition into the deaf community.
Yay, so here's my story: I was helping out at lunch, sitting with the deaf kids:
Francesca: What's your name?
Me: My name is ::fingerspells name::
Matthew: ::tap tap:: That's not your name.
Me: You know what my name is, silly.
Matthew: Yeah, it's ::fingerspells:: but that's not your name. It's ::A-handshape tapped twice over the heart::
Me: Your name is ::M-handshape tapped twice over the heart::
Matthew: Yes, and your name is ::repeat::
Me:: ::repeat:: This is my name?
Matthew: Yeah
Then it clicked that he had just given me my sign name! I was a burst of happy, proud, and blessed emotions. I was soooo happy! I told all of the preschool teachers, they were very happy for me! I also told the principal at the end of the day and she announced it to a bunch of people. A sign name is really a very special gift. I called my family and home friends on the ride back to school. I was so excited that I missed my exit, got off at some random place and took tons of back roads to get back to school. What should have taken me 15 minutes to get home took me over an hour!!! But I was so happy I didn't care. It's humorous :-)
I called up Mary and told her the news too. We went out to Not Your Average Joe's and celebrated with dinner and ice cream :-D Such an amazing day! I LOVE my sign name :-D So happy!

Okay, so before I retire to bed I need to write about my amazingly awesome day! Today was my first day of speech pathology classes. I am going to have a blast in these classes even though it’s gonna be pretty intense – one of the syllabi I received was 8 pages long!! But good times will be had nonetheless. I also got a call today from the deaf school and I’m gonna be helping out once a week with lunch duty, recess, and asl preschool – little peanuts all signing!!!!!!! I have an interview with the principal next week and she’s gonna evaluate my signing (wish me luck!). After my classes I treated myself to a field hockey game and had a blast yelling and cheering our team on and we won 2-0 against real tough competition!! (Did I mention how much I love field hockey?!!) Then tonight the house played cranium and I got to talk to two of my bestest friends on the phone, one of which had four pages written out of things she wanted to remember to tell me from the past two weeks we haven’t been in touch. Yay, I feel loved : ) Today was an amazing day. Very slowly things are coming together and falling into place – I am on cloud 9 right now : ) Granted, I’m sure this status will fluctuate overtime, but I’m going to enjoy it for all it’s worth! Good night : )

Summer's almost over. I'm glad. It's been a good summer, but it's high time to get back to school and be on my own for a while. I've been soaking in my last week of summer by working on my blanket. I am 6 inches away from my half-way mark! :-) Maybe by next summer I'll have it done :-p But it's fun and relaxing and I get to see the progress right there.
Mum, Dad, and Elena have returned from their soccer travels to Ireland and England. They brought back some pretty cool things. I got a tin whistle! Now when I go to Ireland next year I'll try to get a fife and make my flute collection a bit more complete. Yay, fun stuff.
In other news, I haven't been doing anything other than working. I am SO glad this is my last week working there until Christmas time. Granted the only day I have off is the day I leave to go back to school, but the drive back "home" - school - will be that much sweeter!!! This is going to be an AMAZING year! I can feel it! I just need to keep the momentum going to prove that I can do what I have my mind set on...some people have been doubting (grr). I need to kick ass this year. ....kick ass

I redesigned my livejournal! Woot!
This week is a week of doctor appointments. I had a physical yesterday, a trip to the dentist today, an orthodontist appointment tomorrow and another dentist appointment on Thursday. I gotta go back to the dentist because he found a chipped piece of tooth under my gum; it looked like a sliver of an almond. Turns out it was a piece of my wisdom tooth - which was taken out a year ago!!!!! He took some x-rays to see if anything else was in there...there wasn't, but he did find that the tooth in front of where that wisdom tooth was chipped in the back near the base of the tooth. The people doing my wisdom teeth surgery must have knicked it with the tools while they were trying to get leverage and ended up taking a chunk out of my tooth. I guess technically I've had a fractured tooth for the past year, but I didn't notice one bit. So now I have to go back to the dentist and they need to take out the filling that is already in this "broken" tooth and fill it again as well as fill in the newly discovered chipped part. It should take about an hour to do...a wonderful way to relax after work :-p Oh well, no worries...it's just strange that piece of widsom tooth had been there for so long.
That's about it here. I'm off to bed. G'night.

Thanks to a good family friend and almost $400 spent on a starter, my car is fixed and running beautifully. Glad to have my car back even though I'm not bringing it down to the Cape - gas is expensive. That's alright, I'll still have a blast down there for my little vacation for the summer.
Last night I actually went out with friends and socialized! I know, I'm pathetic, but it was SOOOO nice to get out of the house! Ordinarily I work, babysit, or sit at home. I'm happy to say that last night I went out with Meg and Jenn and some of their friends for a 21st b-day celebration. It was a good time :-)
So, I've been doing some thinking. Seeing how Elena and I already pretty much know what we want to do in our adult careers, I think Jenna should be a flight attendant. A girl at work has an interview this week with an airline company and they're flying her to Baltimore and back for the interview. The really cool thing is that if she gets it not only does she get to fly for free, her immediate family does too! So if Jenna became a flight attendant we could travel anywhere - first Australia - and only have to worry about accomidations and such. No air fare - amazing. She could still do her share of teaching -- teaching the passengers what to do. And if she does want to do some math, she could count the passengers and make sure they're all accounted for. Hmm...I'll work on her ;-)

Hello, hope everyone's having a great summer. I finally finished my summer physics course last week so my summer has officially started :-) The Tour de France just kicked off a few days ago so I'll be well entertained with the events in France this month - oh how I love Europe. Not much else has been going on...been working a lot, catching up on much needed sleep, and been reading a bit. Next week I'm going down to the Cape for three days to visit my family who's up from Arizona and see some Stonehill buddies. I was going to drive my car down but it died last night. My parents don't think it'll be fixed in time. Darn, I had it all planned out how I was gonna pack my bike in the car and good stuff like that. Jenna and I were gonna drive down together which could have equated to some bonding time. I know it sounds cheezy, but I've been trying to get closer to my family this summer because I feel so disconnected when I'm away at school. That's about it here. Cheers!

Does anyone have a copy of the Everybody Loves Raymond season finale??? My Dad taped it for my great aunt but then accidentally taped over it! I am trying to be a good daughter and save him from many raptures of fire. If you do have it and are willing to let me copy it, not only would you be amazing, but you will be on my Dad's AWESOME APPROVAL list for centuries - you all should know what BIG DEAL that is!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

I am now back on the road again in my own car :-) My Dad drove me down to the RMV this morning so we were there right when it opened. I got my plates, new screws, and I put them on my car :-) Now I can drive my sisters to the movies tonight :-) Amy was generous enough to lend me her car yesterday while she was at work so I could get together with Meg and have lunch with her. Yay, Meg time is good and so are car rides :-) Last night I went with Amy to the Atrium where we got to see Bronson Arroyo sing and play his guitar - he has a really nice voice and he sung some awesome songs!! YAY RED SOX!! Things are starting to turn around :-)

Someone stole the license plate off my car either some time yesterday or today. I feel violated. Now I can't drive my car this weekend and I had made lots of plans with friends. Last I heard, my car is the only working one...hopefully someone got theirs fixed. :-/ Money, and some people, suck.

The rain has finally stopped after having rained for days on end! I’m pretty happy about that because hopefully things will stop being so miserable and maybe at some point the sun will make an appearance. My cousin is having a luncheon grad party this afternoon. It’ll be nice seeing my cousins. She’s going to Princeton next year – wow. They’re all growing up! I’m trying to forget how I’m growing up too – too many responsibilities. Oh well. My car’s been treating me pretty good so far. I need to thank it with a thorough cleaning once the good weather returns. I still have yet to name it. Any suggestions? Lately I’ve been busy with my summer class, working, and unpacking, along with riding my bike and studying for the GREs. I really have too many things in my room. I feel like the amount of clothes I have cloned themselves somehow – I don’t remember having so many! So yeah, been picking away at the To-Do list I created for this summer. Hopefully I’ll get to everything. Take care.

Well, junior year is over and done with. I have to say it was a very enjoyable semester, I hope my grades will reflect some of that...I'll find out in a week or so. The past two days at home have been interesting. Of course, I've been working. My first day back at work someone was caught dealing drugs outside the store and shortly thereafter four cop cars surrounded the front of the building and ambushed the guy inside the store. The paddy wagon showed up - the whole deal. It was amusing. Yesterday I was working again, and I caught a customer sending money internationally under a false name. That was another interesting spectical. Even though he is a really nice guy, the Feds will be paying a visit to him shortly. Well, if my summer continues like this, I'd have to say it would be entertaining. One of my favorite managers is back at my store after not being there for over a year. It really helps that she's back. Work is really all I have been doing recently. I've been trying to unpack a little, and I've been reading a bit too. I need to finish my book before I see the play on Tuesday. I'm going to NYC to see the play Wicked! - I can't wait!!!!! It's gonna be amazing! Good luck to those of you who are still under the pressure of finals! Adios amigos!

My, my, it’s been a while since I last updated. My sister came down to visit me a couple weeks ago. We had fun – basically went around Boston trying different foods. We went to new places and wandered around – all in all good times were had. Let’s see, what else…then there was spring break. Tennessee was amazing – my second year going down there and it was a totally different experience, it’s really nice down there. While there I hand-nailed wall paneling, installed insulation in an attic, built four clothes racks for a thrift shop, redid an intern’s apartment, and burned lots of stuff (I was the designated pyro of the group!) hehehe. It was a blast! In other news, I think I have an internship at a deaf school for next semester and I have been approved to take speech pathology courses at a college about half an hour away from me! Next semester will be exciting, yet extremely busy! It’ll be worth it. In order to get to these places, I need a car. Which, conveniently, I bought this weekend!! I won’t have it in my possession until next week because they need to fine tune some things but I’m happy with it. :-) So right now I’m on Easter break, which has been nice…I’ve been trying to forget about the immense amount of work the profs have buried me in, but I must tend to it at some point. Lately I’ve been spending a lot of time with family and seeing or trying to see friends. I think I’m gonna get on my bike this weekend…need to get out and do something. Later days.
